How to replace the power steering hose assembly on Chevrolet Colorado?

Installing a drain pan under the vehicle represents the first step when replacing the Power Steering Hose assembly. First disconnect the Power Steering Hose assembly from the Power Steering Pump and set the vehicle on proper safety stands while raised to a suitable height. First remove the bracket retaining bolts of the Power Steering Hose assembly then take out the hose assembly retaining bolt which connects to the power steering gear. You should disconnect the power steering gear to remove the hose assembly from the vehicle while performing complete cleaning of the power steering gear inlet and outlet ports so they remain clear of contamination. The power steering gear oil seal remover/installer (J 44586) should be used to extract the oil seals when replacing power steering gear components from a vehicle. The ports need another cleaning round before installing replacement oil seals through the use of the j 44586 tool. The power steering gear repair requires reinstallation followed by attachment of the hose assembly to the gear bolt which must be tightened to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). The Power Steering Hose assembly retaining bolts need installation before they are torqued to 9 nm (79 inch lbs.). When the vehicle rests at its lowest position install the Power Steering Hose assembly to the Power Steering Pump and fasten it securely at 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Finish by draining the fluid from the drain pan then fill the reservoir at the correct filling point before performing a power steering bleed procedure.

How to service and repair the Power Steering Hose on Chevrolet S10?

Service and repair operations on Power Steering Cooler pipe/hose start with removing the air cleaner assembly followed by draining the vehicle onto a pan. Connectors between the Power Steering Pump and Power Steering Cooler should be removed so hose removal from the vehicle becomes possible. When installing the hose attach it to the Power Steering Cooler as well as the Power Steering Pump. Torsion of the Power Steering Cooler hose clamp near the Power Steering Cooler needs to reach 2 nm (18 inch lbs.) whereas the hose clamp around the Power Steering Pump requires 2 nm (18 inch lbs.). The air cleaner assembly and power steering system bleed need to be installed following removal of the drain pan.

You should disconnect the power steering gear to remove the hose assembly from the vehicle while performing complete cleaning of the power steering gear inlet and outlet ports so they remain clear of contamination. The power steering gear oil seal remover/installer (J 44586) should be used to extract the oil seals when replacing power steering gear components from a vehicle. The ports need another cleaning round before installing replacement oil seals through the use of the j 44586 tool. The power steering gear repair requires reinstallation followed by attachment of the hose assembly to the gear bolt which must be tightened to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). The Power Steering Hose assembly retaining bolts need installation before they are torqued to 9 nm (79 inch lbs.). When the vehicle rests at its lowest position install the Power Steering Hose assembly to the Power Steering Pump and fasten it securely at 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.).
