How to Service and Repair the Ignition Lock Cylinder on a Chevrolet Colorado?

Start Ignition Lock Cylinder replacement by removing the steering column trim covers. After setting the Ignition Lock Cylinder to accessory position (ACC) locate the access hole that sits beneath the air bag coil on the right center of the column housing. Insert the 90 degree tip of a pick type tool through the access hole before pushing down to secure the lock retaining pin. Tear the lock cylinder out from the base of the steering column. To install the new Ignition Lock Cylinder position it to the accessory (ACC) while pushing until the pin rests inside the lock module before reattaching the steering column trim covers.

How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on Chevrolet Tahoe?

Start by disabling your vehicle's sir system before replacing the Ignition Switch lock cylinder. On the steering column shroud proceed to removal following correct installation procedures for manual or electronic tilt steering columns. You can release the tab by pushing an allen wrench into the Ignition Lock Cylinder's top hole when the key sits in the start position. This action frees the Ignition Lock Cylinder to slide out from its place. Installation success depends on proper alignment between the ignition/start switch and the Ignition Lock Cylinder case gears to avoid no start and battery drain problems. Start by rotating the Ignition Lock Cylinder case gear in a clockwise motion to reach the start position before you install the key into the cylinder. Reinstall the steering column shroud while enabling the sir system in the end.
