How to replace the lower intermediate steering shaft on Chevrolet Colorado?

The replacement of lower intermediate Steering Shaft requires stepping up first to verify pointers are steadily facing frontward and the Steering Column stays anchored in lock position to forestall sir coil assembly misalignment and destruction. Use the lock button on the ignition to switch off then take away the key. Lock the Steering Column through the trim cover's access hole by using the Steering Column lock pin (J 42640). Start by lifting and securing the vehicle before you take out the upper intermediate shaft to lower intermediate shaft pinch bolt along with its plastic insert. Perform the following steps to install or remove the lower intermediate shaft from the power steering gear input shaft: first disconnect the upper intermediate shaft from the lower intermediate shaft and then remove the lower intermediate shaft to power steering gear input shaft pinch bolt and separate the lower intermediate shaft from the power steering gear. Take the lower intermediate shaft out of your vehicle at the end of the procedure. To install the lower intermediate shaft position it inside the vehicle as you connect it to the power steering gear. Use a torque control wrench set to tighten the lower intermediate shaft to power steering gear input shaft pinch bolt at 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Attach the lower intermediate shaft to the upper intermediate shaft while making sure the plastic insert flat matches the flat on the lower intermediate shaft before tightening the upper intermediate shaft pinch bolt to 23 nm (17 ft. Lbs.). To proceed with the service lower the vehicle then remove the Steering Column lock pin (J 42640) from the Steering Column lower trim cover access hole.

How to replace the upper intermediate steering shaft on Chevrolet S10?

Before starting upper intermediate Steering Shaft replacement begin by turning the wheels until they face forward then switch ignition to lock position and remove key while documenting the various shaft relationships for accurate assembly. First disassemble the Steering Column before you disconnect the nut and bolt holding the upper intermediate shaft to the Steering Column until you can remove the upper intermediate shaft. Place the upper intermediate shaft back onto the Steering Column according to the fastener notice in service precautions then use a torque wrench to tighten the nut and bolt to 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.) before reinstalling the Steering Column.
