The repair process for aluminum lower control arms starts with vehicle suspension and subsequent wheel removal before stabilizer shaft link detachment from the Control Arm and wheel drive shaft removal when necessary. First detach the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm and disconnect the wheel drive shaft if your vehicle has this part installed. Use mechanics wire or equivalent to support the knuckle assembly with the upper Control Arm. First remove the lower shock module bolt screws from the lower Control Arm then discard the lower Ball Joint retaining nut. The j 43631 (Ball Joint Separator) combined with j 45851 (Ball Joint Separator Protector Adapters) enables technicians to detach the lower Ball Joint from the Steering Knuckle. Take the Control Arm nuts and washers away followed by the Control Arm bolts to extract the Control Arm. Position the lower Control Arm accurately and fasten it with Control Arm bolts coupled with washers for installation. Screw and tighten the lower Control Arm retaining nuts to 175 nm (129 lb ft). If the Steering Knuckle features a captured washer use 125 nm (92 lb ft) torque and 50 nm plus 130 degrees (37 lb ft) if it does not have a captured washer to fasten the lower Ball Joint into position. Fasten the lower shock absorber module mount bolts with torque setting at 50 nm (37 lb ft). Reinstall the wheel drive shaft only if required before removing support for both the Steering Knuckle and upper Control Arm. Reinstall the tire with the wheel before removing support then lowering the vehicle for front end alignment.

The j 43631 and j 45851 tools should be used to remove the lower Ball Joint connection between the Steering Knuckle. The nuts securing the lower Control Arm need removal before removing Control Arm hardware consisting of washers and Control Arm bolts. Position the lower Control Arm in the correct location and use Control Arm bolts a well as washers to secure it. Wedge the lower Control Arm retaining nuts right after installation before tightening them to 175 nm (129 lb ft). Lock down the lower Ball Joint inside the Steering Knuckle through the installation of a fresh retaining nut which you should tighten to 125 nm (92 lb ft). Follow the procedure to attach the lower shock absorber module mount bolts before applying 50 nm (37 lb ft) torque. First remove the upper Control Arm's support and Steering Knuckle support before reinstalling the wheel drive shaft when needed. Replace the stabilizer shaft link onto the lower Control Arm and add the tire along with wheel then pull off the support and lower the vehicle. Finally, align the front end.

First remove the lower Ball Joint retaining nut before using tools to disassemble the lower shock module bolts from the lower Control Arm. The j 43631 and j 45851 tools should be used to remove the lower Ball Joint connection between the Steering Knuckle. The nuts securing the lower Control Arm need removal before removing Control Arm hardware consisting of washers and Control Arm bolts. Position the lower Control Arm in the correct location and use Control Arm bolts a well as washers to secure it. Wedge the lower Control Arm retaining nuts right after installation before tightening them to 175 nm (129 lb ft). Lock down the lower Ball Joint inside the Steering Knuckle through the installation of a fresh retaining nut which you should tighten to 125 nm (92 lb ft). Follow the procedure to attach the lower shock absorber module mount bolts before applying 50 nm (37 lb ft) torque. First remove the upper Control Arm's support and Steering Knuckle support before reinstalling the wheel drive shaft when needed. Replace the stabilizer shaft link onto the lower Control Arm and add the tire along with wheel then pull off the support and lower the vehicle. Finally, align the front end.
