Remove the lower intermediate shaft from the power steering gear, and record the center intermediate shaft in relation with the upper intermediate shaft for appropriate insertion. Warm the center intermediate shaft for a brief moment, disconnect the center intermediate shaft from the upper intermediate shaft, and remove the center intermediate shaft that is still connected to the lower intermediate shaft. Take out the lower to center intermediate shaft retaining bolt and indicate the attachment of the center intermediate shaft to the lower intermediate shaft for appropriate installation before dismantling the center intermediate shaft from the lower intermediate shaft. For installation, attach the lower intermediate shaft to the upper intermediate shaft and install the lower to center intermediate shaft retaining bolt, lighting-tight to 30 nm (23 ft. Lbs.). Make sure the orientation of the intermediate shafts conforms the removal notes and then join the center intermediate shaft to the top intermediate shaft, attaching center to top intermediate shaft retaining bolt, while tightening it to 30 nm. (23 ft. Lbs.) connect the lower intermediate shaft to the power steering gear and install the lower intermediate shaft to power steering gear retaining bolt and tighten with 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle and take out j 42640 (Steering Column Anti-Rotation Pin) from outside of Steering Column lower trim cover.
