How to replace the upper intermediate steering shaft on Cadillac CTS?

To replace the upper intermediate the Steering Shaft, make sure to make the front wheel straight and the Steering Column in the lock position to avoid improper alignment and sir coil assembly. Disable the sir system. Take out the Steering Column with its upper intermediate shaft in place while noting the interface between the upper intermediate shaft and the Steering Column for correct reassembly. Be sure to remove the upper intermediate shaft to Steering Column retaining bolt, and after doing so, separate the upper intermediate shaft from the Steering Column. For installation, attach the upper intermediate shaft to the Steering Column as mentioned above during removal and set the upper intermediate shaft to the Steering Column retaining bolt by torquing it to 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Lastly, install the Steering Column with the upper intermediate Steering Shaft and make sure that the sir system is enabled.
