How to replace the Wiper Switch on Cadillac XLR?

Before replacing the windshield washer switch you must turn off the sir system. You must remove the steering column bracket with trim parts before pulling the wire harness from its clips and separating the wire connection. Pull out the windshield wiper and washer switch assembly starting from its locking tabs. Take off the 2 pan head tapping screws from the side mounted bracket next. Then remove the bracket itself. To detach a slide-on mounting bracket from the steering column shaft assembly you should first remove the turn signal cancel cam and steering shaft upper bearing spring. Fix the side mounted switch mounting bracket to the steering column tilt head with the 2 pan head tapping screws and tighten them to 7 n.m (62 lb in). Push the switch mounting bracket onto the steering column shaft parts and add the turn signal and multifunction switch components. Reposition the turn signal cancel cam and steering shaft top bearing spring inside the housing. Then insert the switch assembly onto the switch mounting bracket when appropriate locking tabs lock. Secure the wire harness assembly cables into the wire restraint clips while connecting and placing wire harness straps. After installation place back the steering column trim pieces including the bracket. Also activate the sir system.
