  • Q: How to replace the Instrument Panel Lamp Dimmer Switch on Cadillac XLR?
    A:
The Instrument Panel Lamp Dimmer Switch replacement requires removing both the closeout/insulator panel and the knee bolster trim panel. Pull outward while taking out retaining screws from the bottom of the switch pad to disengage the retaining clip. Begin the installation by disconnecting the electrical connectors then removing retaining screws that hold the instrument panel (I/P) dimmer switch before removing the I/P dimmer switch. User installation of the I/P dimmer switch requires placement onto the I/P cluster bezel while maintaining screw retention at 1.5 Nm (13 lb in). Attach the I/P dimmer switch electrical connector before you install the retaining screw at the bottom of the I/P dimmer switch pad while tightening it to 1.5 Nm (13 lb in). Put back the knee bolster trim panel along with the closeout/insulator panel to finish.
