Before starting the front brake caliper replacement process check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level. No removal is needed when the fluid sits mid-point between its marks. However, lowering the fluid to mid-point is essential when the reservoir shows a high fluid level. Take out the brake pads, unscrew the brake hose fitting bolt, seal brake caliper inlet port, discard brake hose fitting gaskets and cap the fitting to avoid brake fluid leakage and contamination. Take out all brake caliper bolts and lift off the brake caliper from its position. After cleaning caliper bolt threads, apply threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) on two thirds of their length before allowing 10 minutes cure time. Put on the brake bleeder bolts at 175 nm (129 lb ft), then join the brake hose fitting bolt to the brake hose using two new gaskets before tightening to 49 nm (36 lb ft). Put back the brake pads and perform hydraulic brake system bleeding.

Follow the brake caliper guide pins setup and add brake pads and retainers to the bracket before fixing the caliper to its building position. Clean the pins' threads using denatured alcohol and apply thread-locker gm p/n 12345493 (Canada P/N 10953488) to two-thirds of the lower caliper bracket bolt threads before inserting them. Permit thread-locker to set for 10 minutes. Smear high heat silicone lubricant onto the brake caliper guide pins before installing brake caliper bolts and fastening them to 63 nm (46 ft. Lbs.). Put on the tire and wheel followed by lowering the vehicle and fitting the master cylinder with the right amount of fluid.
