Since this procedure requires air conditioning disconnection, take the car to a dealer or specialist for A/C de-pressurization. Remove the intake manifold, then take out the push rods from the lifters by removing the rocker covers and loosening the rocker arm nuts. Keep the valve lifters separate for reinstallation in their original positions. Remove the front grille, radiator, shroud, air conditioning condenser, and hood catch support as necessary to provide clearance for the camshaft. For Chevrolet engines, remove the fuel pump and fuel pump push rod. Next, take out the torsional damper, crankcase front cover, and camshaft sprocket/timing chain. Install two bolts into the camshaft bolt holes to use as grips for pulling the camshaft. Before installing the camshaft, coat each of the lobes and journals liberally with 'Molykote' or its equivalent, and lubricate the lifters as well.
