Oldsmobile Cylinder Head can direct air and fuel accurately, making the combustion steady and powerful to ride. Oldsmobile began in 1897, mounted its vehicles on a moving assembly line, and appalled purchasers with the Curved Dash, which regular folks could actually afford, as a demonstration that mass production could be coupled with style and enabling thousands to join the new era of motoring. Oldsmobile followed this with the introduction of the Hydra-Matic automatic transmission in 1940, which ensured that drivers drove comfortably without working a clutch, boosting its comfort with its reliability and also injecting a spirit of risk taking since the technology was not proven at that time and became the norm. Oldsmobile continued to offer luxury and safety with decades of consistent engine development, which provided motorists with quiet cabins and strong performance over the long roads and supported a reputation of trust that enabled families to stick with the badge over the generations. Cylinder Head is made of lightweight aluminum, which heat is removed easily, mass is reduced, and the engine revs higher without knocking and distorted surfaces. Cylinder Head shapes in and outlet paths with fuel and air meeting in equal measures and exhaust gases exiting in a hurry, thus enhancing throttle responsiveness and ensuring emissions are graceful. The component presses against the block using Torque-to-Yield bolts, which stretch to the right, guarding against leakages that would steal compression and dirty cooling jackets. Cylinder Head matches valves and spark occurrences with small machining margins and maintains reliability mile after mile, enabling the car to give confident pulls up steep grades.

Oldsmobile Cylinder Head Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove the Cylinder Heads in V8 engine on Oldsmobile Cutlass?
    A:
The following instructions do not apply in cases where the engine of the car has been pulled out. For vehicles which have got the air conditioning system, the car has to be taken to a certified dealer or refrigeration expert for decompression and it's a taboo to remove any hoses while the system is charged. First the intake manifold and the exhaust manifolds can be unbolted and taken off. Next, let the lower mounting bolt for the alternator be taken out and the alternator also be taken out while having the lower bracket removed. If the vehicle is fitted with an air conditioning system, then the A/C compressor and forward mounting bracket should be unbolted while rigging but all hoses and fittings should be capped off to avoid dirty intake of fresh air into the system. Also for vehicles carrying power steering, the pump should be unbolted from its mount and supported using wire, though the hoses should not be disconnected. If not already done, this coolant can be drained off using the drain plugs which are available on either side of the block at the rear end of the engine and which can be effectively drained by raising the rear of the car to about 24 inches. Rocker arm cover should be unbolted from the cylinder head and lifted off the head and the gasket surface should be disconnected with a hand or rubber mallet rather than prying on the sealing surfaces. In the case of Valves, it is imperative that each of the valve mechanisms should be dismantled and with separate parts to be reinstalled using an array of the numbered cardboard box or a number rack. Lift off each of the rocker arm nuts or bolts and put them in the assigned places for them, be it in the box or on the rack and then the rocker arm assembly, then put the components where they belong. Punch holes in the box or rack to suit the push rod, lifting each of them from the cylinder heads and fixing them on the holes. Turn the cylinder head attaching bolts in a clockwise direction as you undo them, to remove them, while measuring each bolt with the intention of refitting. Remove the engine ground strap connecting to the rear of one cylinder head; then, with the help of your assistants, lift the heads right off the engine, which is cumbersome because they're quite heavy. If a head is stuck to the engine block don't try to force it to remove it because of damaging the sealing surfaces; gently use a hammer and a piece of wood to tap on the head at each end. Lastly, put the heads on planks of wood; this will be in order to protect them from any contamination.
