How to replace the tailgate latch and cable assembly on GMC Canyon?

Start by supporting the tailgate for replacement of the Tailgate Latch and cable assembly by removing the tailgate cover first. Use pliers to disconnect retaining clips from the handle before removing latch rods from their clips. The support cable must move forward into position to release itself from the tailgate striker bolt. Start by unbolting the latch/support cable assembly from the tailgate before removing the full latch assembly. Install the latch/support cable assembly to the tailgate while making sure the latch rod will properly face the Tailgate Handle. Screw in the bolts which fasten the latch assembly while tightening them to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Place the support cable back on the bolt head of the tailgate striker bolt and position both latch rods inside their retaining clips before connecting the clips to the Tailgate Handle. Put back the tailgate cover before pulling the tailgate closed.

How to replace the tailgate latch on the left lower end on GMC Envoy?

Starting the tailgate left lower latch replacement requires tailgate swinging open followed by tailgate trim panel removal before removing the tailgate inner reinforcement panel. After disconnecting the electrical connector from the latch assembly start by removing the screws that secure the latch assembly to the tailgate. First position the latch onto the tailgate after which connect its electrical connector to the latch assembly. The latch assembly requires 10 N.m (89 lb in) torque when screw installation is complete to secure it to the tailgate. Reinstall the tailgate trim panel along with the tailgate inner reinforcement panel.
