GMC Lift Support enables the liftgate or hood to go up in a gentle motion and remain still so that it is not slamming and does not occupy your hands during loading. Installation of the Lift Support requires to avoid drops, first prop the hood or gate before installing the Lift Support. Locate the fatigued unit and record the direction of the rod, and pry the metal clip at every socket using a small flat object. Draw the ends out of the ball studs, measure the length, and brush on some light grease on the new fittings. Install the sockets with the rod facing down to maintain the oil on seals, attach clips home, remove the prop and cycle the panel to achieve a smooth movement.
