You need to remove the expanding plastic fasteners at the window latch close-out when changing your rear door upper garnish molding. Use the Door Trim Pad Clip Remover (J 38778) to free the retainer from its seat before removing the liftgate trim panel. Begin installation by aligning the retainers through the liftgate holes then press down on the seat retainers before putting expanding plastic retainers at the window latch close-out.

How to Replace Door Moldings on the Side Door Lock Pillar (CF5) on GMC Sonoma?

In order to replace the garnish molding on the side door lock pillar (CF5), remove front and rear door sill trim plates, upper, and lower front seat belt anchor bolts. Next, remove the front side door lock pillar garnish molding in the motor home, while passing the seat belt through. To install, position the front side door lock pillar garnish molding back onto vehicle, feeding seat belt once again. It is necessary to abide by the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Then, install the upper and lower front seat belt anchor bolts and tighten to 70 N.m (52 lb ft), and finally, attach the front and back doors sill trim plates.
