Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on GMC Sierra 1500?
A:
The first step for replacing the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve is to remove the air cleaner outlet resonator. First disconnect the valve tube of the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid from both the valve and the purge solenoid electrical connector. The procedure starts by removing the purge solenoid nut then moving to extract the engine wiring harness bracket from the stud and the purge solenoid stud until the purge solenoid is free from the Intake Manifold. Set the purge solenoid valve on its installation position on the Intake Manifold while complying with fastener notice in service precautions. Fasten the purge solenoid stud to 12 n.m (106 lb in) before you attach the engine wiring harness bracket to the stud then install the purge solenoid nut with the same torque value. The finished installation requires you to connect the purge solenoid electrical connector together with an evap canister purge solenoid valve tube to the valve after placing the air cleaner outlet resonator back in position.
Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on GMC Yukon?
A:
After cleaning connections and surrounding areas of the evap lines you should replace the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid valve. Start by taking off the air cleaner outlet duct followed by detachment of the evap line quick connect fitting from the evap canister purge solenoid. Start by removing the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the solenoid and then disconnect the chassis evap line quick connect fitting. Lift the retainer that supports the solenoid to the Fuel Rail then extract the solenoid. Place and tighten the new evap canister purge solenoid onto the Fuel Rail using the retainer for installation. Proceed with connecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector followed by the chassis evap line quick connect fitting to the solenoid and finish with connecting the evap line quick connect fitting. Complete the installation by putting back the air cleaner outlet duct.
