The process for replacing a Camshaft starts with removing the
Radiator and
A/C Condenser before moving onto the lifters along with
Timing Chain and Camshaft sprocket. When removing the balance shaft drive gear and Camshaft retainer bolts with the retainer keep the Camshaft extra careful because all its journal diameters match. A new Camshaft can be removed by driving three 5/16-18 x 4.0 inch bolts through the front bolt holes and pulling it out by rotating the bolts. A thorough cleaning process followed by essential inspection exists for the Camshaft and bearing elements. New Camshaft installations require a combination of new engine oil and filter changes along with engine oil supplement addition. After applying engine oil to the Camshaft lobes, bearing journals and bearings you can install the Camshaft by using the three bolts as positioning tools. All reused fasteners need threadlocker application on Camshaft retainer bolts before retaining bolt installation followed by torque settings to 12 nm (106 lb in). Install the balance shaft drive gear, Timing Chain, and Camshaft sprocket to your engine and then place the lifters before re-installing the A/C Condenser and Radiator.
