To service and repair the Coolant Reservoir, namely for automatic transmission surge tank replacement lhd m 82, start by draining the coolant. Relocate the hose clamp pliers, part no. (J 38185) and unfasten the clamp to slide it out of the way and thereafter, disconnect the hose from the surge tank outlet. Remove the master cylinder from the Brake Booster and remove the surge tank inlet hose without breaking the brake lines. Remove the surge tank bolts and lift the air inlet grille panel partially out of the way removing the surge tank. Remove the low coolant sensor electrical connector and the surge tank. For installation, connect the low coolant sensor electrical connecter and install surge tank be sure to put the tab placed behind the air inlet grille screen before redplacing the grille. Attach the surge tank outlet hose and install the surge tank nut by tightening it to 9 nm (80 inch lbs). Connect the surge tank inlet hose and mount the surge tank bolt and tight the bolts to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). At last rejoin the master cylinder to the vacuum booster and refill the cooling system.
