How to replace the shock absorber on 2007 Cadillac STS?

Start by lifting the vehicle before supporting it while removing both tire and wheel. Next, remove the shock yoke. Disconnection of the suspension position sensor link rod that connects to the upper Control Arm should be performed on vehicles equipped with electronic suspension control (ESC) or automatic headlamp aiming. The ball stud must remain stationary during assembly and disassembly periods and should be protected from rotation through the use of hand-operated tools instead of air-powered tools which may damage it. Completely secure the upper Control Arm on the Steering Knuckle before taking away its retaining nut then insert a hex-shaped tool beside the ball stud to stop slippage when removing the upper Control Arm-to-steering knuckle nut. Separate the upper Control Arm from the Steering Knuckle using the steering linkage and tie rod puller (J 24319-B) while following the procedure in arw 615-40. Then lower the vehicle. The shock module procedure for vehicles with esc demands disconnecting the damper coil harness connector and eliminating the shock module upper mounting bolts before the shock module extraction from the vehicle. Fit the shock module inside the vehicle before securing the upper bolts to 112 n.m (83 lb ft). The installation process begins by reattaching the damper coil harness connector to vehicles with esc. After vehicle elevation the upper Control Arm needs installation on the Steering Knuckle while tightening the retaining nut to 80 n.m (59 lb ft). The procedure for installing the shock yoke begins with reattaching the suspension position sensor link rod for vehicles that have either esc or automatic headlamp aiming features. Subsequently, install the shock yoke and then the shock to its mount. Here end the procedure by reattaching the wheel then lowering the vehicle.
