Turn off the sir system and keep the front wheels in line with each other, then put the Ignition Lock Cylinder in the locked position with the key out before moving on. Put the j 42640 pin into the Steering Column access opening until it is locked in place. Jack up the vehicle and secure it, then take out the bolt that fixes the upper intermediate shaft to the lower intermediate shaft. Once the car is lowered, remove the Steering Column and pay attention to how the upper intermediate shaft fits with the lower intermediate shaft and the Steering Column for the next step. Now, unscrew the retaining bolt for the upper intermediate shaft that is attached to the Steering Column and pull out the shaft. Attach the upper intermediate shaft to the Steering Column, then lock it in place with the retaining bolt and tighten until it states 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Put the Steering Column back, then raise the vehicle and join the upper intermediate shaft to the lower intermediate shaft by the retaining bolt, tighten it to 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the car, take out j 42640 (Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin) to unlock the Steering Column, and turn on the sir system.
