Support the vehicle with safe elevation before using the Oxygen Sensor wrench (J39194) to remove the heated Oxygen Sensor. Higher engine temperatures exceeding 48°c (120°F) make Oxygen Sensor replacement simpler. Installation of the new heated Oxygen Sensor requires the use of Oxygen Sensor wrench (J39194) to tighten the sensor while applying special anti-seize compound to the threads. All new service sensors arrive with this compound already applied on them. The threads of reused sensors need coating with either gm p/n 5613695 anti-seize compound or equivalent products. Lower the vehicle before securing the heated Oxygen Sensor using 40 n.m (30 lb ft) torque settings while connecting the fuel sensor connector to its position on the engine harness connector.
