How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2002 Chevrolet Express 2500?

In order to replace the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor, follow these steps; first raise the vehicle. Remove the mounting bolt for the steering linkage shield and then the shield can be taken off if equipped with the underbody shield package. Removal of the ckp sensor involves the following steps: disconnect the ckp sensor harness, pull out the ckp sensor mounting bolt, and remove the ckp sensor. If you change the new ckp sensor, ensure it is engaged before fastening the mounting bolt in a position that can cause erratic performance and misreading of dtcs; do not use the original o-ring. (Original O ring is not to be used). Replace the ckp sensor o-ring and oiling hitherto installation with clean engine oil. Clean the ckp sensor mounting surface and remove all burrs; install the ckp sensor and secure it to the mounting bolt with 8 n.m (71 lb in) torque. Interrupt transmission of the ckp sensor harness connector, install the steering linkage shield and fasten it with the mounting bolts, proper twisting up to 33 n.m (24 lb ft). Lastly, lower the vehicle and conduct the ckp system variation learn process.
