The Pontiac Intake Valve is located within the cylinder head and has the role of supplying fresh mixture to the chamber and closing down to secure compression. Pontiac gained fame when using a Wide-Track stance which is applied to plant rubber, body roll trim to ensure corners remain flat and to keep the grip honest. Chassis geometry allows predictable steering, allowing a driver to point the nose and place a line without theatrics. An Intake Valve properly seated allows all the cylinders to breathe completely and use those advantages. Disconnect the battery ground on your Pontiac, remove plugs and unscrew the valve cover. Turn the crank till the cam lobe is facing away from the Intake Valve that is to be replaced, install a spring compressor, break the keepers, and remove the retainer and spring. Take the battered stem out, clean the guide, replace the seal, and replace the Intake Valve. Install the spring and retainer, tap the keepers home, then spin the engine to ensure smooth travel. Adjust the lash to spec, tighten the cover, re-hook up your ancillaries and start your Pontiac and experience the renewed pull.
