How to Replace the Evaporator Tube and A/C Hose on Chevrolet Impala?

The first step to replace the evaporator tube includes recovering refrigerant and taking off the air cleaner assembly. The next step in the process starts with disconnecting the ground wire bolt below the air cleaner assembly followed by the brake pressure modulator valve bracket. Remove power from the Brake Fluid Level Sensor and disconnect the oxygen sensor connector which is linked to the fuel injector sight shield rear bracket. Unfasten the Brake Booster master cylinder mounting nuts before you pull out the master cylinder from its position and set it aside. To start the repair disconnect the engine vacuum line to the Brake Booster before taking out the a/c line coupling between evaporator tube and receiver dehydrator tube and the mounting bolt from the receiver dehydrator tube. Climb under the vehicle to first disconnect the receiver dehydrator from the evaporator tube before removing the block fitting nut on the evaporator tube to a/c compressor hose assembly, lastly detaching the evaporator tube from the a/c compressor hose assembly. First disconnect the block fitting nut retaining the evaporator tube to the txv model and place the heater hoses in temporary storage aside from the support bracket. The evaporator tube needs removal from the retainer above the heater hoses and requires disconnecting from the txv. The technicians must remove the evaporator tube from its support clip on the left fender rail and from the transaxle fluid filler tube and wire harness electrical connector from the a/c pressure sensor and connector c101 at the top of the left shock tower. The procedure ends with removal of the evaporator tube from the vehicle and the a/c pressure sensor together with disposal of all o-ring seals and seal washers. The installation process involves installing the a/c pressure sensor to the evaporator line after replacing both its o-ring seal and the receiver dehydrator o-ring seal. Tighten the installation to 4.7 n.m (41 lb in). Place the evaporator tube inside the vehicle and fasten it using transaxle fluid filler tube replacement and new seal washers installation. Secure the evaporator tube near the left fender rail support clip then fasten it to the txv before tightening the txv nut to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Put back the oxygen sensor connector onto the fuel injector sight shield rear bracket and the heater hoses to the support bracket and the transmission Shift Cable to its retainer above the heater hoses. Join the receiver dehydrator with the evaporator tube then install the a/c line coupling between the evaporator tube and receiver dehydrator tube. Secure the receiver dehydrator mounting bolt at 10 n.m (88 lb in). Secure the block fitting nut on the compressor hose assembly to 16 n.m (12 lb ft) before connecting it to the evaporator tube. Reinstall the brake pressure modulator valve bracket together with the master cylinder to the Brake Booster before securing the master cylinder with nuts that you must tighten to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). The Brake Fluid Level Sensor electrical connector installation requires completion together with connecting the engine vacuum line to the Brake Booster and the wire harness electrical connector c101 to its position on the left shock tower. To complete the service install the bolt that goes to the ground wire below the air cleaner assembly while tightening it to 10 n.m (89 in lb). Then reinstall the air cleaner assembly and evacuate and recharge the a/c system and perform a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) test on the fittings.
