You must take out the accessory
Drive Belt if the car does not have air conditioning before starting crankshaft balancer replacement. Begin the procedure by taking out both the
Starter motor and the lower
Fan Shroud since the
Flywheel holding tool (J 42386-A) should engage with the engine Flywheel. Tighten two bolts on j 42386-a to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) while using one m10-1.5 x 120 mm and one m10-1.5 x 45 mm bolt. The reinstallable crankshaft balancer bolt needs removal right now for future installation purposes. The crankshaft balancer remover (J 41816) combined with the crankshaft end protector (J 41816-2) should be used to remove the crankshaft balancer followed by cleaning and inspection. The crankshaft balancer requires installation by placing it directly on the crankshaft before using the crankshaft balancer and sprocket installer (J 41665). Proceed by filling together the threaded rod and nut and washer and installer while inserting the smaller end into the front of the balancer. Start the crankshaft balancer onto the crankshaft by holding the threaded rod hex end with one wrench while using another wrench to rotate the installation tool nut clockwise until the balancer begins installation. Start by placing the large end of the tool at the balancer front and proceed with the re-tensioning steps until the balancer fully installs. Screw on the original crankshaft balancer bolt before installing it with 330 nm (240 ft.lbs.) torque and later removing it. The correct installation of the balancer needs verification through measurements; repeat the installation process if needed with j 41665. The job includes a new crankshaft balancer bolt that requires a torque of 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs) followed by a torque angle of 140 degrees by using the torque angle meter (J 36660-A). The final task includes Starter motor installation followed by reinstallation of the lower Fan Shroud and accessory Drive Belt (for vehicles without A/C) and a/c Drive Belt (with A/C), then executing the crankshaft position (CKP) system variation learn procedure.
