To replace the ignition cable, the engine cover should be removed in the first place. Remove each ignition cable by twisting the boots 1/2 turn before pulling off, making sure that you pull only on the boot or use an ignition cable wrench. Next, one should disconnect the ignition cable from the
Distributor by making a 1/2 turn from each boot and only pulling on the boot or using a tool. For installation start by connecting the ignition cable to the Distributor but with the boot seated properly pushing the boot sideways as improper seating may cause the erosion of the core of the cable and cause engine misfire or crossfire conditions. Next, connect the ignition cable to each
Spark Plug. Check that the cables are properly installed by pushing sideways on each boot to see if they are seated properly and reinstall any loose boots, and that cable routings are kept to prevent radio ignition noise and cross firing or shorting. Apply new dielectric grease onto the inside of that boot whenever you are installing new ignition cables or boots onto the spark plugs. Finally, reinstall the engine cover.
