Releasing fuel system pressure should be the first step before beginning replacement of the Fuel Rail assembly. Begin the replacement process by removing the upper
Intake Manifold and then separate the engine fuel feed pipe from the Fuel Rail and the main
Fuel Injector harness electrical connector. First remove the
Coolant Temperature Sensor then the
Camshaft Position Sensor electrical connectors from both components before disconnecting the fuel injectors cables. Start by separating the Fuel Rail retaining bolts which leads to Fuel Rail assembly removal. Use gm p/n 12345616 (Canadian P/N 993182) to lift the o-ring seal if necessary from the spray tip end of each injector. The installation process requires lubrication of Fuel Injector o-rings with gm p/n 12345616 (Canadian P/N 993182) before putting the Fuel Injector nozzles into lower Intake Manifold injector bores. The Fuel Rail must be pressed down until fuel injectors fully seat before installing the attaching bolts and torquing them to 10 n.m with 89 lb in. The gas worker will attach the electrical harness to the Fuel Rail before connecting the Fuel Injector electrical connectors while using the gm p/n 12377900 (Canadian P/N 10953529) lubricant. Proceed with connector reattachment starting with the fuel feed pipe at the Fuel Rail then main Fuel Injector electrical harness connector followed by the Camshaft Position Sensor and Coolant Temperature Sensor electrical connectors. Complete the installation by placing the upper Intake Manifold then reconnect the negative
Battery Cable followed by leak inspection using a two-second on ignition then a ten-second off period followed by another two-second on cycle for leak detection.
