How to disconnect and connect the negative battery cable on Chevrolet Equinox?

To remove or attach the battery unfavorable connection, record all customer's radio station presets, turn off all lamps and add-ons and permit the ignition change to off stance. I have disconnected the wire harness for the powertrain control module (PCM) from the battery box top, i then remove the pcm bracket with the pcm off the top of the battery box top, then i place it out of the way. Loosen the battery box cover with screws and remove the battery box cover . It should then be followed by loosening the battery negative cable terminal bolt and removing the battery negative cable from the battery. For installation, connect the battery negative cable to the battery, tighten the terminal bolt to 17 n.m (13 lb ft) and make sure the existing corrosion from the battery terminal bolt flange and the Battery Cable end is removed. Replace the battery box cover and secure the screws to 2 n.m (18 lb in). Reattach the pcm and bracket to the battery box cover and connect the pcm wire harness to the battery box cover and finally, program the customer's all radio station presets and read the current time as the radio clock.

How to replace the negative battery cable on Chevrolet Equinox?

A technician begins battery cable replacement by removing the battery box then dislodging battery cable retainers from the battery tray. Use this order to disconnect first the negative battery cable nut and cable from the inner fender body ground stud then the negative battery cable nut and cable from the transaxle stud. Eliminate the negative battery cable from its housing in the wire loom. When replacing the negative battery cable start by positioning it into the wire loom before securing it with a transaxle stud using the negative battery cable nut which needs to be tightened to 45 N.m (33 lb ft). Place the negative battery cable at the inner fender body ground stud and secure the negative battery cable body ground nut with a torque of 12 N.m (106 lb in). Terminate the battery cable retainers by placing them inside the battery tray before reinstalling the battery box. Select new cables exactly like the originals regarding type and diameter and length and handle them in the same path as factory wiring.
