Q: How to replace the Windshield Wiper Switch on Cadillac CTS?
A:
Before replacing the windshield wiper and washer switch you should switch off the sir system. Take off both parts of the steering column trim and release the steering column wiring harness tie straps. Remove the electrical plugs 1 and 3 from both the windshield panel and washer switch. Press down on the locking tab of the windshield wiper and washer switch to pull it off the steering column. Placing the new windshield wiper and washer switch onto the steering column works best by connecting the electrical connectors (1, 3). Connect the electrical connection to the windshield wiper and washer switch and properly place the wiring harness tie straps and steering column trim covers. Finally, enable the sir system.
Q: How to replace the Windshield Wiper Switch on Cadillac XLR?
A:
You must disable sir (Supplemental Inference Network) before starting your Windshield Wiper and washer switch replacement. Take off the steering column components such as the bracket and trim pieces. Pull the wire harness away from its clips before taking off the wire connector. Push the locking tabs to free the Windshield Wiper and washer switch then remove it from the switch mounting bracket. Choose the 2 pan head tapping screws from the side mounted bracket and unhook the switch mounting bracket. First check the turn signal before continuing and take out the turn signal cancel cam and its upper bearing spring on the Steering Shaft. Take the switch mounting bracket off from the steering column shaft. Secure the side mounted switch mounting bracket to the steering column tilt head assembly by attaching it with 2 pan head tapping screws that you need to tighten to 7 nm (62 lb in). To achieve precise installation of the signals and switches push the switch mounting bracket hard against the steering column head before screwing it in place. Position the switch mounting bracket onto the column shaft and put turn signal and multifunction switch parts onto it. Snap the Steering Shaft upper bearing spring and turn signal cancel cam into place afterwards. When needed push the switch assembly into position until locking tabs lock onto their slots. Reinstall the wire connections before attaching the wire harness with new straps. Finish the process by locking the wire harness into place. Place back the covers for the steering column trim and steer on the column bracket afterward to power the sir.
