The battery negative cable requires removal to replace the ignition switch lock cylinder. Begin by removing the steering column shroud while implementing the correct procedure for models with and without a key release lever knob. Use an allen wrench or similar pick-type tool through the lock housing access hole to gently depress the retainer which allows extraction of the Ignition Lock Cylinder from the lock housing when the key is placed in the run position. The new Ignition Lock Cylinder installation requires positioning it at the run position before putting it into the lock housing while performing rotation checks for proper operation. Complete the installation by placing back the steering column shroud while reconnecting the battery negative cable.

Using the housing place the park lock cable, align the lock cylinder and install the cylinder into the house. Wrap up the column trim covers and the knee bolster, then activate the sir system and reconnect the battery negative cable.
