The first step for replacing the Steering Knuckle in rear suspension requires the vehicle to be lifted and supported. For awd vehicles remove the rear Wheel Bearing and hub (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement) while fwd vehicles need (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement). Start by detaching the park Brake Backing Plate assembly and the rear wheel drive shaft according to (Rear Wheel Drive Shaft and Rear Axle Shaft Seal Replacement). Place a jack stand under the lower Control Arm and take out the knuckle adjuster link bolt and knuckle attaching nut and both bolts securing the knuckle to the lower Control Arm and upper Control Arm. The installation of the rear suspension link occurs on the lower Control Arm. The knuckle needs to be removed from both upper and lower control arms next. To install the knuckle park the component in the upper and lower control arms then add the bolt connecting the knuckle to the adjuster link then lightly tighten the nut before securing it to 75 n.m (55 lb ft) with an additional 60 degrees of torque. Position the bolt from the upper Control Arm into the knuckle after you fingertighten the nut before torquing it to 100 n.m (74 lb ft) and additional 60 degrees. After completing the bolt from the lower Control Arm to the knuckle, remove the jack stand positioned under the lower Control Arm.
