How to properly service and replace the oil filter on 2009 Cadillac CTS?

To change the engine oil and oil filter, one should switch the ignition off and take away the front compartment sight shield. Take out the oil filter lid and dispose the oil filter cartridge. Carefully wipe out all the oil used and fit in the new oil filter cartridge and fill the engine with the correct oil. Re-fit the sight shield where needed.
