How to replace the Front CV Boot and CV Joint on a Wheel Drive Shaft Inner Joint on 2008 Chevrolet HHR?

To replace the Front Wheel Drive Shaft Inner Joint Boot, you need to lock the wheel drive shaft bar into a soft jawed vise. Remove boot retaining clamp from the boot for tripod housing using the flat-bladed tool and then use side cutters to remove boot clamp from the boot for the wheel drive shaft. Next, remove the tripod housing from the wheel drive shaft then remove the retaining clip and the tripod spider off the wheel drive shaft . Remove the boot from the wheel drive shaft and check the wheel drive shaft inner joint for damage and excessive wears. In assembling, place the boot on the wheel drive shaft and then mount the tripod spider assembly to the wheel drive shaft and then toast it in place. Insert the retaining ring into your wheel drive shaft, followed by the addition of about half the amount of grease in the kit to the seal and the rest into the tripod housing. Mount the tripod housing on the wheel drive shaft , followed by the boot clamp for the tripod housing boot and the boot clamp for the wheel drive boot . Use J 35910 Drive Axle Seal Clamp Pliers to crimp the small boot clamp, make sure the clamp gap width does not exceed 2.15 mm (0.085 in) and then crimp large boot clamp, check the gap width so that it is equal to 1.9 mm (5/64 in). Finally, turn the housing on a circular motion in order to distribute the grease in the tripod joint all over.
