Implementation of new Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensors requires disabling the SIR system as the first step. Start by taking out the door trim panel. The next step involves removing the inflatable restraint side impact sensor bolts before taking out the sensor from the vehicle. Before placement insert the sensor into the vehicle while carefully following the guidelines in the Fastener Notice to prevent damage. Apply 9 N.m (80 lb in) torque when installing retaining bolts to the inflatable restraint side impact sensor. Reinstall the door trim panel while enabling the SIR system.
