- Q: How to replace the positive battery cable on 2008 Buick Lucerne?A: Initiating battery cable replacement requires dismantling the surge tank while disconnecting the negative cable along with removing floor panel carpets in front and back. The positive battery cable cover should be unsnapped before being moved aside while performing the cable separation process between the cable and the battery. Disconnect the positive battery cable retainer which anchors to the floor pan stud followed by the junction block stud nut and terminal then remove the clips along with retainers from both rocker panel and the body harness channel. Pull the positive cable assembly out of the vehicle after carefully unseating its grommet from the dash area front. The new positive battery cable should be passed through the dash front before installing grommet clips and retainers to their designated positions. The positive battery cable needs connection to the BEC stud followed by attaching the starter solenoid cable to the BEC while tightening the nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft). The technician should place the junction block cover back and fold the dash mat flap before attaching the positive battery cable clip to the dash mat. After reinstallation of the carpet and surge tank users must verify that all components are securely connected. Reconnect the wire leading to the negative battery cable last.
