    A: The first step to change the left Exhaust Manifold starts with removing the engine sight cover followed by extracting the bank 1 sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor from the Exhaust Manifold. The process starts with removing the spark plugs while also taking out the generator depending on installation needs before accessing the Catalytic Converter. Lessen the Exhaust Manifold bolt torque and separate the heat assembly from the Exhaust Manifold when sufficient clearance needs to be obtained for removal. Prior to installing the Exhaust Manifold check that the threads in the Cylinder Head Exhaust Manifold bolt holes are clean and debris-free and devoid of any threadlocking material. Install the Catalytic Converter onto the intermediate pipe while keeping the clamp loose before checking the Exhaust Manifold alignment. Secure a 0.2 inch (5 mm) threadlock gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953489) band onto the Exhaust Manifold bolts threads before setting the Exhaust Manifold with its new gasket. Start by installing the Exhaust Manifold bolts to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) by tightening first the center two bolts and then performing alternating side-to-side passes until reaching 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Regularly refer to the original bolt installation pattern. Install the bank 1, sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor in addition to spark plugs and generator along with the engine sight cover. Finish the installation by connecting the Catalytic Converter to Exhaust Manifold nuts while tightening them to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.); secure the exhaust clamps for the Catalytic Converter to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.).
