2005 Chevrolet Equinox Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear steering knuckle on 2005 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: In order to replace the rear Steering Knuckle, firstly, lift and support the vehicle and take the tyre and wheel out. Subsequently, withdraw the wheel bearing/hub assembly, the upper Control Arm to knuckle bolt and nut, the lower Control Arm to knuckle bolt and nut, the toe link to knuckle bolt and nut, and the trailing blade to knuckle bolts. After these components are taken away, detach the knuckle from the vehicle. Thereafter for installation, you attach the knuckle onto the lower Control Arm with the bolt and nut in place, then on to the upper Control Arm to the toe link and the trailing blade, but again loosely fixing each item with its respective bolt and nut in place. These are the bolts and nuts that should be tightened in this order: the bolt and nut of knuckle to lower Control Arm to 160 nm (118 f.rb (ft. Lbs.)), knuckle to upper Control Arm bolt and nut to 160 nm (118 f.rb (ft. Lbs.)), knuckle to toe link nut to 160 nm (118 ft. Lbs.), and knuckle to trailing blade bolt and nut to 110 nm (81 ft. Lbs.). After tightening, the vehicle's wheel bearing/hub assembly, followed by the tire and wheel, lower the vehicle, and adjust the vehicle wheel alignment.
