Begin by turning off the ignition and elevating then supporting the vehicle for the replacement of Bank 1's Knock Sensor (KS). To gain access to the wiring harness heat shield the technician must reposition it before disconnecting the KS electrical connector and removing the KS bolt for KS replacement. Position the new KS correctly before securing it with the KS bolt to a torque of 23 N.m (17 lb ft) according to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. After completing installation replace the KS electrical connector and restore the wiring harness heat shield before lowering the vehicle.
