How to replace the door check link on the front door on 2005 Cadillac CTS?

In order to remove the door check on the front door, take out the door trim panel and draw the water deflector back. Take the door check out and replace it with the new one, making sure that the fasteners are in their places. Attach the arm of the check back and get the water deflector and door trim panel back on.
