How to replace the front side door check link on 2004 Cadillac CTS?

First remove the front side door trim component to start the process of replacing the door check. The check becomes accessible when the forward section of water deflector at the door panel is pulled backward. Remove the check at both the door nuts and body bolt before extracting the check from the door. Insert the check into the door while you install its two nuts and apply torque to 9 Nm (80 lb in). Install the check arm onto the front body hinge pillar bolt while also torquing it to 9 Nm (80 lb in). Reinstall the door trim panel together with the water deflector as the final step.
