- Q: How to replace the right catalytic converter (LP1, LY7) on 2005 Cadillac CTS?A: The right Catalytic Converter replacement (LP1, LY7) begins with removing both right bank exhaust manifold heat shield and Catalytic Converter nuts. Support the vehicle for elevation while you disconnect the Oxygen Sensor's power source. Then disconnect the Exhaust Pipe from both left and right side catalytic converters before undoing Exhaust Pipe right bank Catalytic Converter nuts. Gradually extract the Catalytic Converter while removing the seal/heat shield and Oxygen Sensor which you will disconnect from the exhaust manifold before removing the Oxygen Sensor from the Catalytic Converter. The installation process starts with attaching the Oxygen Sensor onto the Catalytic Converter and performing a check of the Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield sealing surface for wear or damage. Begin by installing the Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield onto the converter before placing the converter carefully back to the exhaust manifold. Then secure all fasteners to complete the installation. After connecting the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector you should inspect the Catalytic Converter seal for damage. Repair or replace the seal if necessary. Screw the exhaust pipes onto the left and right catalytic converters while tightening the nuts to 22 nm (16 ft. Lbs.). Position the Catalytic Converter properly and secure its nuts tightly to 50 nm torques (37 ft. Lbs.). Next, reinstall the right bank exhaust manifold heat shield.
