2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor (24X) on 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: Start Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor (24X) replacement by detaching the crankshaft balancer and recording the CKP sensor harness path before sensor extraction. First remove the clip bolt that secures the CKP sensor harness together with the retaining clip before disconnecting the CKP sensor. The first step is removing both sensor bolts and then installing the CKP sensor. Start the installation process with the CKP sensor before adding the CKP sensor bolts. Secure these bolts to 10 N.m tension (89 lb in torque). Tighten the CKP sensor harness retaining clip bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in) torque while also fitting the retaining clip in place. After connecting the CKP sensor electrical connector you must reinstall the crankshaft balancer and execute the crankshaft variation learn procedure.
