How to replace the rear brake calipers on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?

Start replacing the rear brake caliper by checking the master cylinder reservoir fluids. No fluid needs removal if the level sits at midpoint between limits but draining to midpoint must occur if fluids exceed this range. Lift the vehicle and take off the tire and wheel combination. Sever the brake caliper inlet bolt connection as well as the brake hose from the caliper. Remove the two copper gaskets attached to the brake hose ends or caliper before discarding them. Seal both brake caliper and hose ends before taking out guide pin bolts to unlock the mount. Check the caliper slide boots for damage and change them when needed. Install the brake caliper back onto its mounting bracket by placing the guide pin bolts and tightening them to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.). Install new copper brake hose gaskets in the caliper opening and hose before attaching the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt. Tighten the bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). Empty the hydraulic brake fluid system before putting back on the tire and wheel unit then lower the car.
