Starting the engine Flywheel replacement process demands removing the transmission from the system first. The crank hub torx® socket (J42098) enables users to counterhold the Crankshaft while they remove the Flywheel bolts before discarding all bolts. Begin the process by removing the engine Flywheel combined with its retainer from the Crankshaft before proceeding with cleaning operations on the rear Crankshaft flange and checking the engine Flywheel condition. Position the engine Flywheel and retainer onto the Crankshaft while using thread retaining compound on gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) new Flywheel bolts. The crank hub torx® socket (J42098) should be used to counterhold the Crankshaft for the installation of new Flywheel bolts which need to be tightened to 65 nm (48 ft. Lbs.). The torque/angle meter (J36660-A) must be used when rotating Flywheel bolts by starting at 30 degrees then proceeding to another 15-degree twist for the last step. Finally, reinstall the transmission.
