2000 Chevrolet Venture Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core in the auxiliary HVAC system on 2000 Chevrolet Venture?
A: The first step in changing the Evaporator core of the auxiliary hvac system requires users to remove the rear heater a/c module and the thermal expansion valve and the air distribution valve vacuum actuator. The first step requires uninstalling the hvac module base cover screws before carefully extracting the base cover. The hvac-module case halves should be separated with caution to protect the heater core cooling fins while you lift out the Evaporator core from the module half. Place the new insulator/seal on the Evaporator core before inserting it into the hvac module case while making sure the pipe seal matches the grooves of the case halves. Fasten the hvac module case halves together by driving in the screws until they reach 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). Install the hvac base cover followed by securing retaining screws that should be tightened to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). The vacuum actuator alongside the thermal expansion valve and the rear heater a/c module must be reinstalled last.
