State the vehicle procedures to service the Water Pump by disconnecting the negative cable, removing the air cleaner, draining the cooling system, then detaching engine parts. Follow these steps to begin the service by taking out the air intake duct from the
Throttle Body and then detaching the coolant recovery reservoir and upper
Fan Shroud. Take off the
Fan Clutch and
Drive Belt components from their vehicle position. Unfasten the Water Pump Pulley bolts to pull off the pulley before disconnecting the radiator outlet hose, bypass hose, and heater outlet hose from the Water Pump. Pull out Water Pump bolts and extract all Water Pump parts with the gasket built-in. Check for surface damage on both engine block and Water Pump bolt areas before cleaning these surfaces. Install the gasket and water coolant pump but apply teflon pipe sealant gm p/n 12346004 or compatible product to the Water Pump mounting bolts first. Then fasten and torque the bolts to 42 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). Put the Water Pump mounting bolts through their bolt holes after reattaching the heater, by-pass, and
Radiator Hoses to the Water Pump component. Then install the Water Pump Pulley and its bolts but tighten them up to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Connect these components to complete the assembly: Drive Belt, fan clutch, upper Fan Shroud, coolant tank and the air system parts. Rejoin the negative
Battery Cable while adding coolant to the engine system and removing air from the coolant system before checking for any leakages.
