What tools are required to replace the rack and pinion boot and breather tube on GMC Canyon?

The replacement of Rack and Pinion Boot together with breather tube requires these tools from the vehicle: keystone clamp pliers (J 22610). Keystone clamp pliers (J 22610). First dismantle the outer tie rod before removing the hexagon jam nut which secures the inner tie rod assembly. To detach the tie rod end clamp from the Rack and Pinion Boot you need side cutters to remove the boot clamp from the Rack and Pinion Boot. Dispose of the old boot clamp. Before taking off the Rack and Pinion Boot and the breather tube, mark their positions on the gear assembly. When assembling the parts install a new boot clamp onto the new Rack and Pinion Boot and apply grease to both the inner tie rod assembly and the Rack And Pinion gear assembly before placing the Rack and Pinion Boot onto the inner tie rod assembly. When using side cutters to remove the Rack and Pinion Boot's small seal retaining clamp and large seal retaining clamp you should avoid cutting through the boot's end while also maintaining the boot's space distance from the tie rod. Pull the Rack and Pinion Boot firmly from the gear before throwing it away. To install the Rack and Pinion Boot add grease to its rib area before placing the new large seal retaining clamp on the boot. Set the boot in position across the inner Tie Rod End while keeping the boot arrows exactly opposite the gear housing markers. Set the new small seal retaining clamp on top of the boot before guiding the boot towards the assembly center where it will firmly seat into the grooves of the inner tie rod while avoiding twisting or puckering. Use j 22610 keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) to crimp the large seal retaining clamp on the boot while crimping the small seal retaining clamp to the inner tie rod assembly. Reinstall the Rack And Pinion gear together with the outer tie rod.
