How to replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor with the Intake Air Temperature Sensor on GMC Sierra 1500?

When replacing the Mass Air Flow Sensor with intake Air Temperature Sensor handle both sensors gently to prevent harming the air inlet honeycell and keep all substances away from the sensing elements including solvents and lubricants. The air duct needs a small non-silicone lubricant application to support the installation process. Open the air cleaner outlet resonator for removal. To proceed with the sensor replacement begin with removing the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor adapter clamp while disconnecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor. After installing the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor you must position its embossed arrow in the correct direction toward the engine before placing it into the air cleaner assembly. The Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor adapter clamp requires tightening to 4 nm (35 lb in) before you reconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor. Install the air cleaner outlet resonator as the last step.

How to replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor on GMC Yukon?

You should handle the Mass Air Flow Sensor/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor with care while replacing it to protect the honeycell at the air inlet end and preserve the sensing elements from any contact with cleaning solvents or lubricants. A small amount of non-silicone lubricant will help with air duct installation. The air cleaner outlet duct must be removed first before extracting the gray connector position assurance (CPA) retainer and disconnecting the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor electrical connector through pushing down on the black clip. The technician should remove the air cleaner sensor by carefully loosening the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat clamp before taking the item from the air cleaner housing. Before installing the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor into the air cleaner assembly guide the embossed arrow towards the engine direction and then secure the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat clamp at 7 n.m (62 lb in). Connect the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor electrical connector afterwards reuse the gray cpa retainer followed by reinstallation of the air cleaner outlet duct.
