How to replace the Ignition Control Module on GMC Sonoma?

To remove the Ignition Control Module, there is a need to separate the electrical connector. Next, take off the 2 screws that attach the ignition control module and the heat sink to the bracket, then remove the ignition control module and heat sink. In installation, the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions is to be adhered to. Mount the ignition control module and the heat sink onto the bracket using the 2 screws tightening it to a value of 3.5 N.m (31 lb in) meanwhile reconnect the electrical connectors.

How to replace the Ignition Control Module on GMC Sierra 1500?

Start your Ignition Control Module replacement by removing the air cleaner outlet resonator and disconnecting the ignition coil driver electrical connector. You should start by taking out the ignition control module along with its heat sink while also removing its screws. During installation position the ignition control module along with the heat sink while following Fastener Notice service precautions. Use a torque wrench to install the ignition control module screws till they achieve 3.5 N.m (31 lb in) of torque. Reinstall the air cleaner outlet resonator after reconnecting the ignition coil driver electrical connector.
