How to replace the fuel pressure regulator on GMC Sierra 1500?

The first step for replacing the Fuel Pressure Regulator involves draining fuel system pressure. First disconnect the vacuum hose of the Fuel Pressure Regulator then sweep dirt away from the retainer along with the surrounding area. Begin by taking off the Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer before proceeding to detach the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Always verify the fuel rail includes no pieces of the back up ring , regulator seal o-ring , regulator filter , and regulator seal o-ring . Verify that the newly purchased Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer matches its designation by checking the tab position for the retention of the e85-straight vacuum port retainer. The procedure requires installing the back up ring and regulator seal o-ring alongside the regulator filter and regulator seal o-ring onto the Fuel Pressure Regulator but first proper lubrication of all o-rings (11, 13) using clean engine oil before fitting the Fuel Pressure Regulator. New o-rings along with a fresh retaining clip need to be used during any reinstallation process. Next install the new Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer followed by reconnecting the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum hose before putting on the fuel fill cap. Follow the above Battery Cable reconnection procedures and inspect for fuel leaks by applying this protocol: turning on the ignition while keeping the engine off for 2 seconds followed by a 10-second period where you turn it off afterward and proceed to turn it on again with the engine off before inspecting for any fuel leaks.

How to replace the fuel pressure regulator on GMC Canyon?

The replacement of the Fuel Pressure Regulator requires the system pressure to be reduced first. Begin the operation by eliminating connection between the fuel return hose/pipe and Fuel Rail while also uninstalling the atmospheric vent hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Eliminate all debris from the Fuel Pressure Regulator along with its surrounding location before taking out screws (4, 5). Use tools to remove the Fuel Pressure Regulator along with its o-ring seal from the Fuel Rail by discarding the o-ring seal. After extracting the Fuel Rail return pipe together with its o-ring seal from the Fuel Pressure Regulator you should discard the o-ring seal. Check the regulator filter screen for contaminants before replacing the Fuel Pressure Regulator unit when contamination is detected. Place the new Fuel Pressure Regulator filter and apply a small amount of mineral oil gm p/n 9981704 to the o-ring seals (2, 7) before installation. You should place the new o-ring seals (2, 7) onto both the Fuel Pressure Regulator and the Fuel Rail return pipe. Follow the sequence of pressing the Fuel Rail return pipe along with its o-ring seal into the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Then use the same method to insert the Fuel Pressure Regulator with its o-ring seal into the Fuel Rail. Tighten the Fuel Pressure Regulator screws (4, 5) to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Tie one end of the atmospheric vent hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator port while the other end leads to the Fuel Rail through the fuel return hose/pipe. Perform a leak inspection by starting the ignition for two seconds, waiting ten seconds before restarting the ignition for testing fuel leakages.
