The service procedure for Fuel Pressure Regulator starts by removing engine covers followed by upper intake manifold elements. The service begins with removing Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer clip while carefully drawing the Fuel Pressure Regulator from the housing but using a shop towel to absorb potential fuel spills. The Fuel Pressure Regulator housing requires sealing with protective material after removal of the regulator seal lower o-ring as well as the regulator assembly filter and regulator seal upper o-ring and regulator seal back up ring. Discard these o-rings due to contamination risk. It is essential to check the Fuel Pressure Regulator filter screen for contamination during installation and perform a new regulator replacement if needed. Clean engine oil must be used to lubricate the components before installation of the regulator seal back up ring followed by the regulator seal upper o-ring then the regulator assembly filter then the regulator seal lower o-ring. Fit the vacuum tube downward in the regulator and fasten it using the retainer clip. After reattaching the upper manifold assembly the mechanic should secure the fuel filler cap while resetting the negative Battery Cable. First turn on ignition for two seconds then off for ten seconds and perform another on check to inspect for fuel leaks. Finally, install the engine cover.
